How to Choose a Printing and Packaging Supplier in Dubai

A practical vetting checklist for UAE businesses: what to see in the factory, what to ask before ordering, and the answers that signal a reliable supplier.

Choosing a supplier is a production decision, not a price decision. The questions below separate a printer that can hold a deadline and a colour standard from one that cannot.

Confirm who actually produces the work

Many suppliers broker orders to other factories. Ask directly which processes happen in house: printing, die cutting, foiling, lamination, assembly. Brokered work is not automatically bad, but it adds a layer between you and any correction.

Ask to see samples close to your job

Generic sample kits prove very little. Ask for work with a comparable board weight, finish and structure. Handle the closure. Look at corner wrapping and the inside edges, where quality is easiest to hide.

Discuss colour before you discuss price

  • Do they work to Pantone references or match visually?
  • Will you receive a physical proof, and at what stage?
  • Who signs off colour, and what happens if production drifts?

Understand lead time honestly

Ask for the full timeline broken down: artwork check, die production, printing, finishing, assembly, delivery. A supplier who quotes one total number without stages is guessing.

Check reorder consistency

A first order is easy. Ask how they store dies and colour records so a reorder six months later matches the original.

Practical vetting checklist

  • Visit or request a video walkthrough of the production floor
  • Confirm minimum order quantity for your exact structure
  • Ask what happens to over runs and under runs
  • Agree who pays for reprints caused by artwork errors versus production errors
  • Confirm delivery terms inside the UAE and any installation or storage support
