Specifying Perfume Packaging for UAE Brands

How to specify a fragrance box that protects the bottle, survives Gulf retail conditions and reads as premium on shelf.

Fragrance is one of the most demanding packaging categories in the UAE. The box protects glass, carries the brand at arm length on a shelf, and is often kept long after purchase.

Start with the bottle, not the box

Measure the bottle at its widest point including the cap, then decide how much movement you will allow. A cradle that grips too tightly stresses glass during transit; too loose and the bottle rattles.

Common insert options:

  • EVA foam, cut to the bottle profile, best for heavy or irregular bottles
  • Moulded paper pulp, a lighter and more recyclable option
  • Card platforms with folded walls, suited to lighter bottles and slim boxes

Choose the structure around the purchase moment

A magnetic lid suits gifting and reuse. A drawer box gives a slow, deliberate reveal. A shoulder neck box reads as classical and traditional. For oud and attar sets, compartmented trays keep multiple pieces aligned.

Materials for Gulf conditions

Retail and transport in the region involve heat and humidity swings. Practical guidance:

  • Prefer well-bonded lamination over uncoated surfaces that mark easily
  • Avoid very dark uncoated papers if boxes are handled repeatedly, since fingerprints show
  • Confirm adhesive suitability with your supplier when boxes will be stored before filling

Bilingual branding

Arabic and Latin lettering rarely balance by default. Set the Arabic first, choose a typeface with the right weight for foil, and check the alignment of both scripts at final print size. Foil on Arabic script needs slightly heavier strokes to hold detail.

Before you approve production

  • A physical dummy with the actual bottle inside
  • Foil and emboss draw down on the final wrap paper
  • Drop test with the filled bottle in its shipper
  • Regulatory text placement confirmed on the artwork
